There is no legal bar for the CSB News, the country's first 24-hour news channel, to start telecast again as the High Court on Monday stayed the government decision that had pulled the plugs on the transmission of CSB News in 2007.

In response to a petition filed by CSB News authority, the HC bench comprising Justice Md. Kamrul Hossain Mollah and Justice Kazi Zinat Hoque stayed the government decision clearing the way for telecasting the private television channel CSB News 24 hours.

Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokan appeared on behalf of the CSB News channel during the court proceedings.

Earlier, the then interim government on September 27 in 2007 halted transmission of CSB News, a satellite TV channel of Focus Multimedia Company, for 'forgery'.

According to the news, a group of officials of the Bangladesh Telecommunications Regularity Commission (BTRC) including three deputy directors and an assistant director accompanied by a number of security personnel entered the CSB office at Uttara and switched off its transmission at 6:34pm, said a news release signed by Mohammad Ali Zakir, the then company secretary of Focus Multimedia Company Ltd.
