After witnessing a downward trend in the last session, stocks Monday rebounded in the Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges as investors remained active on sector-wise issues.
After witnessing volatility, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 25.42 points or 0.44 per cent to settle at 5,760.39. Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 2.17 points to finish at 2,096.97 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 10.35 points to close at 1,273.82, BSS reports.
However, daily trade turnover plunged to Tk 6,743.88 million on the country's premier bourse which was Tk 6,757.32 million at the previous session of the week.
Out of 398 issues traded, 112 advanced, 237 declined and 49 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
BRACBANK dominated the turnover chart, closely followed by LINDEBD, SONALIANSH, GP and ISLAMIBANK.
RAHIMTEXT was the day's top gainer, rising 10 per cent, while HAMI was the worst loser, shedding 6.93 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rebounded with the Selective Categories Index - CSCX rising 10.89 points to close at 9,773.72.
Of the issues traded, 136 declined, 68 advanced and 26 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city's bourse traded 43.58 million shares and mutual fund units with turnover value of Tk 11.18 crore.
