A case was filed with Nageswari Police Station in this regard.

According to the case statement, Jahidul went missing since August 2 and found him in a viral social media video on September 3. The video shown Jahid was admitted at Rangpur Medical College Hospital. Eventually his family members recovered him from the hospital and brought him home on September 5.

The family members said that during Jahid's stay in home, he said to the family members that he made a joke about a woman who is wife of one Nazrul Islam from the adjacent Chandipur village under Hasnabad union. Following this, the husband along with Rafiqul Islam and Habibur Rahman beat him mercilessly. When the victim fell sick, the accused took him to the medical college hospital and left him there.

Since then, he was being treated at the hospital as an anonymous. As he recovered a bit, the family members brought him home on September 5, but his condition deteriorated on September 7.
