Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has said a low pressure formed over west-central Bay and adjoining area with monsoon fairly active over the country and moderate over north Bay.
It is likely to cause rainfall across the country from Tuesday (September 24).
"It is not yet clear whether the low pressure could intensify into a depression, but the rain will increase. It has already started in the southern region. It will slowly spread to the rest of the country," said Meteorologist Omar Faruk.
Meanwhile, the ongoing mild heatwave sweeping over parts of the country will reduce, said the latest bulletin on Monday.
Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Khulna, Barishal and Chittagong divisions and at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to heavy fall at places over the country.
The day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country during the period.
