KISHOREGANJ, Sept 19: A district court on Thursday pronounced hanging order to two lovers who were accused in the murder case of Mahbubur Rahman.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Shammi Hasina Pervin passed the verdict in the presence of the accused.
Condemned convicts under Section 302/34 panel code are lovers Roksana Akter, 40, wife of Mahbubur Rahman, and Asif Ahammad, 26, son of Babul Ahammad of Chandiber Village in Bhairab Upazila of the district.
According to the prosecution, on the night of November 27, 2019, Bangladesh Railway employee Mahbubur Rahman was killed by his wife Roksana and lover Asif in a robbery drama.
In this connection victim's brother Habibur Rahman filed a case with Bhairab Model Police Station (PS).
Police submitted a charge-sheet against them.
After the witness examination, accused Roksana Akter and Asif Ahammad were sentenced to death and fined Tk 50,000 each.
