Juba League leader Jahirul Islam Rubel has been placed on 7-day remand again in a case filed over killing of Saquib Anjum, a student of Varendra University, during the recent mass movement in Rajshahi on August 5.
Rajshahi Metropolitan Magistrate Court-1 Judge Faisal Tarek passed the order after police produced Rubel before the court seeking a 10-day remand in the case for interrogation after ending of five-day remand.
Earlier, on September 15, the court had placed Rubel on a 5-day remand in a murder case filed over killing Rajshahi College student Raihan Ali.
Meanwhile, Rapid Action Battalion arrested Rubel, a member of Rajshahi city unit Juba League, and son of Abdur Razzak of Chandipur area of Rajshahi city, from Daudkandi in Cumilla on September 14 night and handed him over to police. The next day Boalia police took him to court.
There are six cases, including murder, attempt to murder and looting of weapons under Explosives Prevention Act, have been filed against Rubel and he has been arrested in all of these cases.
