Mild heat wave may continue in parts of country

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) predicted that the ongoing mild to moderate heat wave sweeping over six places of the country is likely to continue in the next 24 hours from 9 am Thursday.

"Mild heat wave is sweeping over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and the districts of Tangail, Kishoregonj and Naogaon and it may continue," it said, BSS reports.
Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is also likely to occur at a few places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy falls at some places over the country, it added.

However, the day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Country's maximum temperature on Wednesday was recorded 37.5 degrees Celsius in Rangpur of Rangpur division while today's minimum temperature was 24.0 degrees Celsius jointly in Rangamati and Feni districts of Chattogram division.

Rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6 am Thursday was recorded 54 mm in Sandwip of Chattogram Division.

The sun sets at 5:58 pm Thursday and rises at 5:47am Friday in the capital.
