Faridpur court on Wednesday sentenced five individuals to life-term imprisonment for killing a man on 2019.
Faridpur Additional District and Sessions Court-2 judge Shihabul Islam delivered the verdict on Wednesday afternoon.
The court also fined each of the convicts Tk 10,000 and sentenced two others to five years jail for their involvement in the murder.
The convicted are Jony Molla, 26, Md Mehedi Abu Kauser, 23, Sajjad Hossain Matabbur, 29, Rajesh alias Rabidas, 28, Robin Molla, 24. The others two, who were awarded with five years jail, are Alamgir Hossain Pathan, 36, and Hafizul Bepari, 23. They all were residents of Faridpur city.
According to the case hearing, a bus of 'Nupur Paribahan' was stolen on October 24 of 2019 which was found in an abandoned state on the following day at Bhanga intersection. While searching the bus, its helper Saddam Hossain found dead inside it with hands and feet tied.
Following the incident, police pressed a chargesheet on November 23 of 2020 accusing seven people.
After hearing witnesses and examining evidences, the court delivered the verdict in the afternoon in presence of the convicts, confirmed public prosecutor Sanwar Hossain.
