Former Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi has been placed on a five-day remand in a murder case.
The Narayanganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Haider Ali granted the remand on Wednesday after police produced Gazi before the court with a prayer for 10-day remand in connection with Parvez murder case.
The court, after hearing the statement of the prosecution, granted five-day police remand.
Earlier, on August 24, detectives arrested Gazi from his Shantinagar residence in Dhaka.
According to the case documents, Parvej Hossain was shot dead during Anti-Discrimination Students Movement at Bhuigar under Fatulla Thana on July 19.
Md Sohrab Hossain, father of Parvez Hossain, filed the case with Fatullal Model police station on August 22, accusing 178 people.
Other accused of the case include- former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former lawmaker Shamaim Osman.
Earlier, Dastagir Gazi was ‘shown arrested’ in three other murder cases, one with Rupganj police station and two others with Araihajar police station.

He had placed on six-day remand in case filed over the murder of student Roman Mia, 17, in Rupganj, Narayanganj during the movement.
The case was filed on August 21 by the victim’s aunt, Rina Begum, at Rupganj police station. Golam Dastagir Gazi was elected MP from Narayanganj-1 constituency for straight four times with Awami League’s boat symbol.
