The recent floods across the country's 11 northeastern districts, including Feni, have caused damage amounting to Tk 14,269 crore, said interim government's Disaster Management and Relief Ministry advisor Faruk-E-Azam.
Advisor Faruk-E-Azam shared the details to the reporters during an event at Bangladesh Secretariat on Tuesday.
"The sudden floods on late August affected 942,821 people, with 74 deaths and 68 injuries," he said adding that a central committee has already been formed to oversee the rehabilitation efforts, with district and upazila committees to be established soon.

In the agricultural sector, crops worth Tk 23.6 crore were completely destroyed, while partial damage amounted to Tk 718.57 crore. Additionally, 28,386 houses were fully damaged, and 1,097 houses were partially affected. The floods also caused extensive damage to roads, with 2,233 kilometers of paved roads fully damaged and 3,984 kilometers partially affected, said the advisor.
Regarding relief for farmers, Faruk-E-Azam confirmed that a three-month suspension on microcredit payments for flood-affected farmers has been approved, effective until October.
Education adviser Bidhan Ranjan Roy informed reporters that primary schools have resumed classes in the affected areas and the educational situation would fully normalise within a month.
Allocations have already been made to cater for the Tk32 crore damages inflicted on educational institutions in the flood-affected areas, Roy added.
