Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusingha has described the current Test squad as the 'most rounded' in the team's history, attributing their enhanced confidence to a recent 2-0 series victory over Pakistan.

He believes this confidence will be crucial in the upcoming two-match Test series against India.
"This is probably the most rounded team Bangladesh has produced during my tenure," Hathurusingha said after the team's practice session at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The opening Test starts on September 19.

Hathurusingha highlighted the squad's balanced composition, noting their strong pace attack, experienced spin options, and batting depth, which includes two spinners who are also capable batsmen and two wicketkeepers who contribute significantly to the batting lineup.

The team has traveled to India buoyed by their success against Pakistan, where standout performances from players like Mushfiqur Rahim, Liton Das, and Mehedi Hasan Miraz led to a historic series win on Pakistani soil.

Facing India, who have not lost a Test series at home since 2012 and have won 17 successive series over the past 12 years, presents a formidable challenge. Hathurusingha expressed that the recent victory in Pakistan bolsters their confidence, not just because of the result but due to their ability to come back from challenging positions in the series.

"Pressure is a privilege. It gives us confidence and something to look forward to," he said, emphasizing the significance of the challenge against the top-ranked team in the world.

He also praised all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, noting his pivotal role and the flexibility he provides to the team with his dual capabilities as a bowler and batsman. Hathurusingha expressed confidence in Shakib's contribution, particularly given his recent form and experience.

The first Test begins in Chennai on Thursday, with the second Test scheduled in Kanpur starting September 27.
