A man was killed and 20 others were injured in a clash during an Eid-e-Miladunnabi (PBUH) procession at Kuliarchar upazila in Kishoreganj district on Monday.

The incident occurred around noon on Monday at Chaysooti bus stand in the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Mir Arif Milon, 50, son of Jabu Mir, a resident of the same area.

Locals said that tensions escalated during the procession near Chaysooti bus stand when some participants threw bricks towards members of Alem-Ulama Council, who were gathered at a nearby mosque. In response, the Council members retaliated by throwing bricks at the procession, leading to a violent clash between the two groups. Milon died on the spot and 20 others sustained critical injuries in the clash.
On information, police and army personnel arrived at the scene to bring the situation under control.

Kuliarchar Police Station officer-in-charge Sarwar Jahan confirmed the incident, adding that the body has been sent to Kishoreganj Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital for an autopsy and legal actions will be taken in this regard upon investigation.
