Beggar hacked to death in B'baria

A woman was reportedly hacked to death at Bijoynagar upazila in Brahmanbaria district on Monday.

The incident occurred in the morning at North Para Telibari area of Singarbill union in the upazila.

Amena Begum, 50, hailed from Kishoreganj district, was reportedly attacked by Manik Mia, 48, who has been arrested by police.

Local sources said that Amena Begum was begging from a woman at Manik Mia's home in Shreepur village when Manik Mia suddenly struck her on her head without any provocation. He then proceeded to kill her with a machete.

Police arrived at the scene upon recieving information, and apprehended Manik.
Bijoynagar Police Station officer-in-charge Sahidul Islam confirmed that the body has been examined, and Amena Begum’s family has been notified.

Further legal actions will be taken upon their arrival, added the OC.
