At least seven individuals were injured in a clash during a discussion meeting of the coordinators of anti-discrimination student movement in Pirojpur district.
The incident occurred on Monday afternoon at the district's Art Academy auditorium. Following the conflict, the team resumed their meeting with the assistance of the army and police.
Among the injured, two coordinators Redwanul Islam and Imran Hossain were admitted to Pirojpur General Hospital with critical injuries.
The clash reportedly began over disputes regarding the district committee of the anti-discrimination student movement. Tensions rose when former Chhatra League leader Shahriar Amin Sagar and Musabir Mahmood Sani claimed to be coordinators, which was contested by the students.
Redwanul Islam stated that a faction of the Chhatra League attacked the meeting, leading to injuries.
Asma Akhtar Mitu, another coordinator, accused Sagar and Sani of creating chaos after joining the movement late.
However, Sagar denied any group involvement in the disruption, claiming the incident was an internal dispute rather than an organized attack.
Abdul Hannan Masud, a central coordinator, emphasized the group's commitment to combating fascism and vowed that the movement would not falter. He then warned that any attempts to create division would be met with legal action.
Pirojpur Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge Shariful Islam said that they have informed about the incident and added that there was no attack, only a scuffle among attendees.
