Death toll from trawler capsize rises to five in Cox’s Bazar

The bodies of two fishermen were found at Inani Beach in Cox’s Bazar on Saturday afternoon, raising the death toll from the trawlers capsize to five. 

Inani Police Outpost in-charge Inspector Rezaul Karim said bodies of two persons were found washed ashore at Inani Beach of Jaliapalong union in Ukhiya upazila of the district at around 2.30PM on Saturday. 

Locals found the bodies and informed the police. Later, they recovered bodies and sent those Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue.  

Among the deceased, on was identified as Abul Karim, 35, a resident of Raypur union of Bashkhali upazila of Chattogram. 

He worked at a fishing trawler named 'FB Abdul Samad Saha' owned by Abul Bashar of Bashkhali. 

The identity of another deceased could not be known immediately. 

The official said two bodies were recovered from Pechar Dwip of Ramu upazila nd Kolatoli coasts on Friday afternoon and another was at Samity para point in Cox’s bazaar on Saturday morning. 

According to the owner of the trawler, there were 11 fishermen on the trawler and due to the rough weather it sank in the Bay. Nine fishermen were rescued alive but two other were remained missing. 

Earlier, around eight trawler capsized in Bay in the last two days due to the inclement weather, leaving around 70 fishermen missing.
