PANCHAGARH, Sept 12: Police arrested four individuals in connection with gang-rape of a 14-year-old intellectually-disabled girl in Tentulia Upazila of the district recently.

Of the arrested persons, two were minors while the other two identified as Abdulllah, 20, and Sabbir Hossain, 19. All of them are residents of Darzipara Village under Tentulia Sadar Union in the upazila.
They were arrested with the assistance of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

The victim's uncle lodged the case with Tentulia Police Station (PS) under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, naming four suspects and two unidentified individuals.

Superintendent of Police (SP) in Panchagarh SM Sirajul Huda confirmed the information during a press conference at his office.

According to SP Huda, the girl was found in a disoriented state at around 11:30 pm on September 6 last near Magura Mor in the upazila by local residents, who immediately took her to the PS.

After speaking with the girl, police learned that Abdullah had lured her from Chourasta Bazar the day before and taken her to a house in Darzipara. From the night of September 5 until the afternoon of September 6, Abdullah, Sabbir, and two other minors violated the girl.

It is believed that two more individuals were also involved.

After the assault, the suspects abandoned the girl near Magura Mor.

SP Huda added that all four arrested suspects have confessed to the crime during preliminary questioning. The victim also identified them when brought before her. A medical examination of the girl is currently underway.
