A delegation from the Foreign Investors' Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), led by its President, Zaved Akhtar, met National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman Md. Abdur Rahman Khan at his office at the NBR Bhaban in the capital's Agargaon area on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the FICCI delegation congratulated him on assuming his new responsibilities as NBR Chairman.

FICCI President Zaved Akhtar emphasized the need for the full digitalization of NBR operations, particularly focusing on enhancing the automation systems to optimize revenue generation, said a press release.

FICCI also sought NBR's support in reforming the country's tax system to make Bangladesh a more attractive destination for foreign direct investment (FDI) and to bolster the national economy.

The delegation advocated for the establishment of a dedicated research wing within the NBR, focusing on expansion of the tax net and collection of revenue through proper market research and identifying the gap between market share and revenue share.

In response, the NBR Chairman commended FICCI for its constructive engagement and collaboration, particularly in promoting automation. He highlighted the vital role of automation in driving economic growth and appreciated FICCI's research publication on taxation.

The FICCI delegation included Senior Vice President Eric M. Walker, other board members, the CEO, and senior officials from member companies. NBR policy members were also present at the meeting.
