Lawyer killed in Madaripur

MADARIPUR, Sept 10: A lawyer was reportedly hacked and beaten to death by miscreants in the district's Sadar Upazila. 

The deceased was identified as Sardar Joynal Abedin, a resident of Sapatoli Village under Mostafapur Union in the upazila. He was a lawyer of Madaripur District court. 

He died on Monday night at Faridpur Medical College and Hospital while undergoing treatment. 

Earlier, on Saturday (Sept 7), miscreants hacked and beat him mercilessly, leaving him critically injured. 

Later on, locals rescued him and took him to Faridpur Medical College and hospital. Since then, he had been taking treatment in the hospital. 

Officer-in-Charge of Madaripur Sadar Police Station AHM Salahuddin confirmed the news. 

The reason behind the murder would not be known immediately, the OC added.
