One more murder case was filed with the Dhaka's Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Sunday against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 33 others, over the death of a painter Babul Hawlader in the capital's rampura area on July 19.
After hearing the complaint filed by victim Babul Hawladar's wife Monowara Begum, Metropolitan Magistrate Arabia Khanam ordered the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to submit a probe report after investigation.
Prominent accused are Awami League General Secretary and former minister Obaidul Quader, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Awami league leaders ABM Siddique, Md Oli Uddin, Engineer Mahbub, Turja Rejaul and Md Harun.
According to the case staement, students and people brought out a rally in the afternoon of July 19 in front of Better Life Hospital at Rampura area during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement. In the mean time activists of Awami League, Juba League and police threw brick chips and started shooting targeting the student rally. All on a sudden painter Babul Hawlader tried to go to safe place, when he was shot at and on July 28 he died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her associates have been accused in a total 119 murder cases over the killings during the movement of students and people for which the Awami League government fell. Besides, 11 more cases were lodged on the allegations of murder attempts and abductions. With that, a total of 130 cases have been lodged against Sheikh Hasina across the country so far.
Sheikh Hasina fled to India on August 5.
