MADARIPUR, Sept 5: More than 10 BNP leaders and activists were chopped to injuries at Ayoz Bazar at Dudhkhali Union in Sadar Upazila of the district at about 8:30 pm on Tuesday for criticising activities of previous Awami League (AL) government.
A written complaint was made with Sadar Police Station (PS) on Wednesday afternoon, demanding justice for the culprits.
Victims' families and police sources said, the criticism arose about various activities of the previous AL government at a tea shop of Aoz Bazar; at that time, BNP leader Shaheen Munshi started arguing with local AL leader Mohsin Akan; at one stage, Mohsin Akan and his group attacked Shaheen Munshi and his leaders and activists with local weapons.
The injured people included Shaheen Munshi, Kamrul Munshi, Salim Munshi, Anwar Munshi, Alam Munshi, Yasin, Pannu Munshi, Maruf Munshi, Saiful Munshi, Rafit Munshi, and Zubair Munshi.
Later on, locals came and brought the situation under control.
Injured persons were admitted to Madaripur Sadar Hospital. But of them, Pannu Munsi was referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as his condition was critical.
