Child drowns in Chandpur

A child drowned in a pond at Haziganj upazila in Chandpur district on Thursday afternoon.

The incident happened at Isapur village under Tamtasouth union in the upazila.

The deceased was identified as Md Abdullah, age around 2 years, son of Md Foysal, a resident of the area.

It was learnt that the child fell into a pond next to his house and drowned while he was playing . After sensing his absence, family members started to search him and found his floating condition in the pond.

He was rescued and taken to a hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

The news was confirmed by Arsad Hossain, a relative of the child.
