Matsyajibi League leader hacked dead in Narsingdi

A local Matsyajibi League leader was hacked to death by miscreants in Narsingdi's Sadar upazila on Saturday night.

The incident occurred at around 12:00 AM at Basail Sahi Eidgah field in the upazila .

The deceased was identified as Lizon Mollah, 30, son of Alamgir Mollah, a resident of Basail area in the upazila. He was an executive member of the district Matsyajibi League.

It was learnt that Lizon Mollah was returning home from Renesa Trauma Center on Saturday midnight. When he arrived at Sahi Eidgah field, some miscreants, who had been waiting, stopped Lizon Mollah's motorcycle and hacked him indiscriminately. At that time, the miscreants also set fire to Lizon's motorcycle.

Locals rescued him and took him to a local hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Tanvir Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Narsingdi Model Police Station, said, "Lizon Mollah was hacked to death by miscreants. However, it is not yet clear who the culprits are, as the investigation is ongoing. There are 16 cases against Lizon with the Sadar Police Station, including murder and extortion cases."
