30,000 sued over attacking EPZ Police Station, looting arms in Ctg

Police filed a case against 30,000 unidentified people for carrying out an attack on EPZ Police Station in Chattogram, looting arms and torching vehicles on August 5.

Last Thursday, sub-inspector (SI) of EPZ Police Station Shakilur Rahman filed the case as the plaintiff, but the matter came to light on Monday August 26.
According to the case statement, 25 to 30 thousand miscreants attacked, vandalized and set fire to the EPZ police station with domestic weapons, iron rods, petrol bombs and cocktails on the afternoon of August 5 after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government.

After, fearing the attack the police fled the police station in self-defence, the miscreants looted weapons and goods by vandalizing and setting fire.

Besides, police station registrar, government and private important documents and goods were burnt by miscreants. Many policemen were also injured in this incident.

Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of the Media and Public Relations Department Kazi Md Tarek Aziz, said that a case has been filed against 25,000 to 30,000 anonymous people on the charges of assault and vandalism and looting of weapons the EPZ police station.
