A murder case has been filed against cricketer Shakib Al Hasan and actor Ferdous Ahmed in connection with the death of Rubel, a garment worker. Both were the former Awami League-backed lawmakers.
Rafiqul Islam, father of the deceased Rubel, filed the case with Adabar police station in Dhaka on Thursday. The case has
named 156 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, as accused.
Around 400 to 500 unidentified persons have been implicated in the case. Shakib Al Hasan is the 28th accused in the case while Ferdous is accused No. 55.
According to the case statement, the plaintiff alleged that on August 5, Rubel participated in a protest rally at Ring Road in the Adabar area. During the protest, Rubel sustained bullet injuries to his chest and abdomen. He was taken to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries on August 7.
