LALMONIRHAT, Aug 23: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members have stopped an attempt of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) members to construct a barbed wire fence along the border in Patgram upazila in Lalmonirhat.

According to BGB members and local residents, on Wednesday afternoon, some BSF members started constructing a barbed wire fence along the zero line of sub-pillars 23 to 28 of the main pillar (DAMP) number 8 at the Haripara border in Dahagram Union.
Members of the BSF from the Bhim Camp of the 6 Raninagar Battalion in Cooch Bihar, India, brought a large amount of barbed wire and construction materials on the site.

When locals and the BGB members noticed it along the zero line, they protested, leading the BSF to halt the work.

Jahurul Haque, a resident of Haripara village in Dahagram Union, said on Wednesday afternoon, Indian workers suddenly started placing iron pillars in the paddy fields along the border in the presence of the BSF troops.
