Three people including two tourists have been electrocuted in separate incidents in two districts - Noakhali and Chattogram, in two days.

NOAKHALI: A young man was electrocuted in Senbag Upazila of the district on Wednesday.

The incident took place in Dakshin Mohammadpur Village under Mohammadpur Union of the upazila in the evening.

The deceased was identified as Kakan Karmakar, 30, son of Haradhan Karmakar, a resident of the village.

Mohammadpur Union Parishad (UP) Chairman Feroz Alam Rigan said that flood hit the area due to the continuous rain for the last seven days.

On Wednesday evening, the flood water entered the house of Kakan Karmakar. He came in contact with live electricity while trying to take an IPS machine out of a flood-hit room, which left him dead on the spot, the UP chairman added.

MIRSHARAI, CHATTOGRAM: Two tourists were electrocuted in Khoiyachora Waterfall area under Mirsharai Upazila of Chattogram on Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Anjan Barai, 21, and Faisal Haque, 22. Both of them hailed from Chhota Sharifpur Village under Lalmai Upazila of Cumilla District.

Police sources said four friends from Lalmai in Cumilla came to see the Khoiyachora Waterfall in Mirsharai on Tuesday morning.

However, as the water flow was high, they decided to go back without seeing the waterfall. On the way back, two of them were electrocuted by touching a branch of a tree that fell on an electric pole.

Two other friends rescued them with the help of locals and took them to Mirsharai Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared the duo dead.

Officer-in-Charge of Mirshrai Police Station Sahidul Islam confirmed the incident.
