East West media house, 25 vehicles vandalized

 
Miscreants attacked and vandalised East West Media Group office in Bashundhara residential area of the capital on Monday afternoon.

A group of miscreants equipped with lethal weapon forcibly entered the media house at around 2:45pm and carried out vandalism.

They first entered the Radio Capital office and ransacked the official equipment, including interior decoration, furniture, laptops and computers and broadcasting machineries.

The media complex houses two Bangla dailies-- Kaler Kantho and Bangladesh Pratidin, an English daily Daily Sun, an online news portal banglanews24.com, News 24, and T Sports, a Bangladeshi Bengali-language sports oriented television channel -- are located in three adjacent buildings of East West Media Group. They also vandalized 20-25 cars and motorcycles parked inside the media complex.

Identities of the attackers could not be ascertained immediately as some of them were wearing masks, said a journalist from the media group.

Meanwhile, in a prompt reaction Abu Baker Majumdar, one of the coordinators now in Rangpur, said that there is no connection between the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the attackers.
