Ex-MP Sahadara Mannan, her son sued in Bogura murder case

A murder case has been filed against Sahadara Mannan, former lawmaker from Bogura-1 and her son Sariakandi Upazila Parishad Chairman Sakhawat Hossain Sajal and Sonatala Upazila Awami League President and Upazila Chairman Minhaduzzaman Liton, along with 20 leaders and activists of the party and allied organisations.

Another 30 unnamed people have been made accused in this case.
The case was filed following the complaint of Shaheen Alam, father of the victim Sabbir Hossain, at Sonatala police station on Friday night naming Sahadara Mannan as the instigator of the killing, reports UNB.

Other notable accused in the case are Sonatala Upazila Awami League Organizing Secretary Navin Anwar Comrade, Member Engineer Mejbaul Haque Zulu, Digdair Union Awami League President Niranjan Chandra Roy, Digdair Union Jubo League Convener Arifur Rahman Palash, Rajshahi University Chhatra League Former Joint General Secretary and Gabtali resident of Sukhanpukur Nawanpara. Sahanur Islam Sakil.

According to the case statement, after Sheikh Hasina resigned and left the country in the anti-discrimination student movement, a victory procession was brought out in the area on the afternoon of August 5.

In that procession, the students were attacked in Shihipur of Digdair Union of the upazila by a group of Awami League members.

During the attack, schoolboy Sabbir Hosain was hacked to death by the attackers, read the case statement.

Babu Kumar Saha, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sonatala police station, said, "A case has been registered in the police station on the charge of hacking a school student Sabbir to death in an attack on a victory procession on August 5.

"Almost all the accused remained absconding. Efforts are underway to arrest them," he added.
