GAIBANDHA, Aug 15: Normalcy has returned to all fields in the district after the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government.
According to field sources, after the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government on August 5 due to mass-upsurge led by anti-discrimination student movement law and order situation deteriorated seriously as the police were in strike, demanding re-formation of their department.
At one stage, they left their work places in fear of mob attacks in the changed situation. Taking that chance, miscreants looted arms and valuable documents from police stations and different places; they set fire to police stations in many places.
Traffic police members were not seen to discharge duties on roads as they also joined their movement. The academic institutions were also shut down.
Guardians became worried about education of their children. Anarchy and indiscipline prevailed in offices for want of service providers.
Later on, the situation started improving after the oath of the interim government led by Dr Muhammad Yunus.
All sorts of activities of the government and non-government offices have been resumed; light and heavy vehicles including easy bike and rickshaw are plying on roads smoothly.
Patriotic students and youths were also seen assisting traffic police in controlling traffic system.
Police resumed their professional duties withdrawing their work abstention strike.
Classes of the academic institutions are going on in full swing. Train movement also resumed after a-14 day break.
Prices of all essentials including vegetables started decreasing in absence of the syndicate system promoted by men of Awami League because students are monitoring kitchen markets.
Now, people are in relief as they are moving here and there peacefully.
They urged the interim government to ensure peaceful environment in all sectors of the country so that Bangladesh can be transformed into a beautiful country as early as possible, as the country has achieved independence for the second time this month through sacrificing lives of a number of students and general people.
