Four-day Baul festival begins in Chuadanga

CHUADANGA, Dec16: A four -day long baul festival began at Akundobariya village playground under Damurhuda upazila of the district on Thursday afternoon at 4pm.
The festival was organised by Darshona Baul Parishad.
Ali Azgor Togar, MP, formally inaugurated the baul festival in presence of a huge gathering. The opening function of the festival was presided over Freedom Fighter Sahidul Islam.
 Among others, Moniruzzaman Dhiru, president of Darshona Baul Parishad, also folk singer, Acting Superintendent of Police Mohammad Belayet Hossain, Chairman of Modna Union Parishad Jakaria Alam and Former President of Darshona Press Club Hanif Mondal were present as special guests on the occasion.
The four-day festival includes drama, folk song, dance show and discussion every day. On the occasion Baul devotees had already reached here from different parts of the country.
In this regard, 45 stalls has been set up which will remain open from 10am to 11pm every day.
Speakers including chief guest called upon all to uphold the culture of folk song in order to stop the young generation's impulse to foreign culture discarding the own.
