JASHORE, Aug 13: The farmers here are expecting bumper production of summer vegetables due to favourable climate conditions throughout the season in the Jashore agriculture zone.
Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) sources said availability of agro-inputs such as chemical fertilizer, pesticides and its affordable prices contribute to successful vegetables farming.
DAE Additional Director Dipok Kumar Roy said this year's production target of Summer vegetables is 5,99,104 tonnes from 33,050 hectares of land in Jashore, Jhenidah, Magura, Kushtia, Chuadanga and Meherpur districts.
Among this, the production target of Summer vegetables was set 1,30,141 tonnes from 6,900 hectares of land in Jashore, 75,328 tonnes from 4,400 hectares of land in Jhenidah, 15,462 tonnes from 900 hectares of land in Magura, 88,080 tonnes from 4,800 hectares of land in Kushtia, 2,13,537 tonnes from 11,850 hectares of land in Chuadanga and 76,356 tonnes from 4,200 hectares of land in Meherpur districts. —BSS
