Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has instructed to freeze all bank accounts belonging to former State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak, his wife, family members, and their owned business entities.
BFIU has also requested detailed transaction information from these accounts within next five working days.
An official from BFIU confirmed the development on Tuesday afternoon.
In a letter sent to banks and financial institutions, BFIU instructed that all transactions through personal and business accounts of Zunaid Ahmed Palak, his wife Arifa Jesmin Konika, and their family members to be blocked. The accounts will remain frozen for next 30 days, during which no transactions will be permitted.
This action has been taken under Anti-Money Laundering Act of 2012, as part of measures to prevent money laundering activities.
