Two killed in Narsingdi road mishap

Two people were killed and several others injured after a bus fell from an overpass after losing its control over the steering in Sadar Upazila of Narsingdi District early Sunday.

The accident took place in Basail area on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway of the upazila at around 1:30 am.
The deceased were identified as Nurul Islam, 50, hailed from Sylhet District, and Nur Uddin, 45, hailed from Habiganj. 

Local sources said that a Sylhet-bound bus carrying passengers fell from the overpass in Basail area on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway at around 1:30 am while its driver lost his control over the steering while overtaking a truck, which left Nurul Islam dead on the spot and several others injured. 

Locals then rescued the inured and took them to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital, where Nur Uddin succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

Among injured, 10 were shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment, said Dr Md Zakir Hossain, an emergency medical officer of Narsingdi Sadar Hospital.
