Cricket organisers demand massive reform in BCB

After the resignation of Sheikh Hasina in response to a mass revolt by students protesting against discrimination, the country is on the verge of reshuffling across all sectors. All leaders of the former government are in hiding.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hasan Papon, who was also the Minister of Sports and Youth in the recently deposed government, is currently unreachable. Despite this, he remains the president of the BCB until the next election of the organization. His availability in the near future is uncertain and reform in the organization is deemed necessary. Amidst this situation, several club officials appeared at the BCB premises on Tuesday.

The gathered cricket organizers claimed that there had been widespread irregularities and corruption in the BCB under the Awami League government. They demanded that these issues need to be properly investigated and the culprits be punished.
Rafiqul Islam Babu, a former director of BCB and Chairman of the Grounds Committee, attended the BCB office in the morning.

Mohammedan official Tariqul Islam Titu, Cricketers Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) general secretary Debabrata Paul, Pertex Sporting Club official Sajjad Hossain, Legends of Rupganj official Sabbir Ahmed, Prime Doleshwar joint-editor Mushtaq Hossain, former national team cricketer Shahadat Hossain and two former councilors of BCB Ziaur Rahman and Borhan Uddin were among those present.

They expressed concern about the management of cricket affairs in the absence of Papon. The board directors were also not present at BCB at this time. They voiced their worries about how the work of various departments of BCB would continue in their absence. Addressing issues of nepotism and irregularities in BCB, Rafiqul Islam said, "If there is any nepotism or irregularities in BCB in the future, it will be properly investigated. But now all the activities of BCB will run properly.

BCB employees will work without fear. Nothing will be allowed to happen here."

"After 2012, I came to BCB again. I came to talk to the CEO of BCB but I didn't find him. Our demand is to remove unqualified organizers from BCB and bring in qualified cricket organizers," he added.

At this time, BCB Development Head Minhajul Abedin Nannu, Women's Department Head Habibul Bashar, Cricket Operations Manager Shahriar Nafees, and cricketer Nurul Hasan Sohan were present at the board. Rafiqul Islam Babu discussed matters with them in the main meeting room of BCB. Minhajul told reporters, "Let good governance be established in BCB." Habibul added, "I hope for a good day."
