Chief Justice's residence ransacked in Dhaka

Residence of Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan at Hare Road in Dhaka came under attack and was vandilised on Monday.

A Supreme Court official confirmed the report around 5:30pm, adding, "A large group of people broke into the Chief Justice’s residence during a protest march."
Sources reported that the group entered the residence around 4:45pm, when no security guards were present. Apart from reported vandalism, various items were allegedly looted by protestors.

During the attack, his residence was cut-off from power supply.

Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan had left the residence shortly before the attack.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned amid mass protests and left the country.

Following her departure, thousands of people took to the streets of Dhaka in celebration. The unrest resulted in protesting masses breaking into and vandalizing Ganabhaban, the Prime Minister’s official residence. Incidents of vandalism and arson have been reported in various other locations as well.
