Protesters blocked on the Dhaka-Chattagram highway demanding justice for killings and mass arrests during the recent Quota Reform Movement.
In response to the calls, students began gathering on the streets, with the crowd swelling as the day progressed, reports UNB.
People were blocking Jatrabari and Signboard on the highway on Saturday afternoon.
Thousands of people from various walks of life, including students, their guardians, and workers, joined the protest march. Protesters were seen chanting slogans demanding the resignation of the government.
The scene also included school children in their uniforms joining the protests, accompanied by some of their guardians.
Protesters stated they only allowed ambulances, outbound passengers, and emergency service vehicles to pass. They also checked proper papers to control vehicle movement on the street.
While no law enforcement agency members were present, army personnel were observed on the road.
