BNP Secretary General Fakhrul Islam Alamgir asked the government to stop the repression, apologize to the nation for the massacre and torture, and called upon the government to resign immediately without causing any further harm.

In a statement on Friday, he condemned the attacks by law enforcement agencies and Awami League leaders and activists at the prayers and mass processions of "Boishommo Birodhi Chhatra Andolon" in different parts of the country. Fakhrul said, "Law enforcement agencies, Awami League, Chhatra League, and Jubo League carried out brutal armed attacks on 'Boishommo Birodhi Chhatra Andolon's' programme."
He stated, "One person was killed in Habiganj and hundreds of students were injured in Uttara, Sylhet, Habiganj, Khulna, Chandpur, Lakshmipur, and other parts of the country." "A record number of false cases across the country, arresting innocent people including opposition party leaders, has created an atmosphere of fear," he added. Fakhrul said, "Innocent labourer Mushtaq Mia was killed and many innocent people were injured in the attacks, which included firing, sound grenades, tear gas, and baton charges by the armed cadres of the ruling party along with the law enforcement agencies."

He further mentioned, "In various parts of the country, law enforcement forces fired indiscriminately and injured many people. Mithu Das Joy, a correspondent of Daily Kalbela's Sylhet bureau, was shot dead while collecting news." Fakhrul noted, "In Uttara, police and Awami cadres fired and injured the students. Chhatra League terrorists harassed the female students. Mahila Awami League attacked the female students in Narsingdi."

He also pointed out, "Not only were there attacks, but the government also shut down various social media sites including Facebook and Telegram to thwart today's programme."

The BNP Secretary General sought forgiveness for the soul of Mushtaq Mia, who was killed in Habiganj, expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family members, and wished a speedy recovery to the injured in Habiganj, Sylhet, Khulna, and other places.
