Police have arrested three youths reportedly for raping a sixth-grade schoolgirl at Monirampur upazila in
Jashore district.
The arrested trio are Pranto Biswas, 22, Ashraful Islam, 22, and Shawon Hossain, 19.
According to the case statement, one of the accused Ashraful was harassing the schoolgirl for a few days with inappropriate proposals. On the night of Thursday (June 27), he lured the girl to a room at Jhapa Bazaar area, where he forcibly administered intoxicants to her. As she began to lose consciousness, they took turns raping her.
The accused recorded the incident and later sent the video to the victim's family, demanding money. When the family refused to pay, the video was circulated on the internet, prompting them to seek police assistance.
Later on Friday, the victim's grandmother filed a
rape case with Monirampur Police Station.
Subsequently, a police team conducted a raid and arrested the three.
