After witnessing a downward trend in the last session, stocks rebounded on Thursday in Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges as investors remained active on sector-wise issues after normalcy returned.
After witnessing volatility, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 62.81 points or 1.17 per cent to settle at 5,413.65.
Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 24.25 points to finish at 1,932.77 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 13.81 points to close at 1,183.37.
Gainers took a strong lead over the losers, as out of 392 issues traded, 286 advanced, 66 declined and 40 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
Daily trade turnover increased to Tk 4,973.47 million on the country's premier bourse which was Tk 1,593.77 million at the previous session of the week.
BSS adds: SQURPHARMA dominated the turnover chart, closely followed by ORIONINFU, LOVELLO, AGNISYSL and SEAPEARL.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rebounded with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -gaining 56.35 points to settle at 15,415.37 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX rising 41.28 points to close at 9,285.60.
