At least 20 individuals sustained injuries as the quota protestors and Bangladesh Chhatra League activist clashed at Feni district on Wednesday.

The clash took place in the Shaheed Minar area on Trunk Road of Feni district town on Wednesday morning.

Early in the morning, BCL activists blocked protesting students from entering the city and started searching students' bags.

Under the leadership of the district BCL Vice President Joy, some students were beaten and taken inside Feni Government College.

As the protesting students moved from the Boro Masjid area towards Trunk Road, Chhatra League activists chased them.

Students said, "We, the general students, came to the city in the morning for a peaceful programme. Chhatra League members obstructed and beat us at various points. When we reached Doel Chattar with our protest march, they suddenly attacked us with bricks and sticks. Several of our fellow students were injured."

Additional Superintendent of Feni Police, Muhammad Shahadat Hossain, said, "We are not yet sure who attacked whom or why. We are gathering intelligence on the matter."

Action will be taken after reviewing footage from surrounding CCTV cameras, he added.
