Body of missing school student found in Ashulia

Divers from the fire service recovered the body of a school student, who had been missing since Sunday afternoon, from a beel under Ashulia Police Station in Dhaka district on Monday morning.

The body was recovered at around 8:00am from Maithattek beel under Shimulia union in the police station.

The deceased was identified as Tozim Uddin, 13, son of Monir Hossain, a resident of Konapara area in Ashulia Police Station. He was a fifth grader of a local school.

The deceased's maternal grandfather, Jalal Uddin said, "Tozim along with his friends went to Maithattek beel (water body) for bathing. Later, he drowned while bathing. After knowing this, we searched for him in the beel but could not find him. On Monday morning, we informed fire service. They recovered the body around 8:00 am from the beel."
Upon receiving the information, divers from the Tangi Fire Service Station recovered the body and handed it over to the deceased's family members, said Pronob Chowdhury, senior station officer of DEPZ Fire Service.
