The agitating students have announced nationwide blockade programme from 3:30pm on Thursday demanding restoration of the circular issued in 2018 cancelling the quota system in government services.
They announced the programme at a blackade programme at Shahbag in the capital on Wednesday (July 10) afternoon.
Announcing the programme, Dhaka University student Asif Mahmud, one of the key organisers of Anti-Quota Movement, said the blockade would continue from 3:30pm on Thursday at every corner of the country. The blockade would be observed at strategic points of the country.
He said, "Our students will observe blockade program on roads and railways across the country from 3:30pm on Thursday. The Dhaka University students will assemble in front of the Central Library and bring out a procession from there. Later, they will block Shahbag intersection."
The blockade, dubbed 'Bangla Blockade' began on July 7 last. After observing the blockade programme on first two days, an interval was given on Tuesday.
'Bangla Blockade' was observed for the third day on Wednesday demanding reformation of quota system. The protestors observed the blockade from 10am. Earlier, they observed the blockade from 3:00pm on Sunday and 3:30pm to 9:00pm on Monday.
