A 17-year-old girl, who went missing after a boat sank in the Someshwari river on Thursday (July 4), was found dead at a bill in Shampur area under Kalmakanda upazila in Netrakona on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Rekha Aktar, daughter of Mohorrom Miah, a resident of Khalishpara area under Birisiri union in Durgapur upazila.
Eyewitnesses said, Rekha went missing when a boat, carrying 20-25 passengers, capsized on the Keronkhola-Khalishapara Ferry Ghat area in Someshwari under Durgapur upazila on Thursday.
Later, divers from Mymensingh rushed to the spot and searched her but they could not find her for last two days.
On Saturday morning, locals spotted the body in a bill and recovered it.
Rafiqul Islam Ruhu, chairman of Birisiri union, said the body of Rekha found beside a bill in Shampur area in the morning and it is being brought to the home.
