Dilara Zaman legacy in our entertainment industry

Prominent actress Dilara Zaman, who has a significant impact on the Bangladeshi film and television industry, was awarded Ekushey Padak for her outstanding contributions to art and culture of the country.

This Iconic actor still is a familiar face of our television industry. She recently shared her story in an interview with a correspondent of The Daily Observer.

She said, "I have reached eighty. Now health is a special gift of God for us. Normally I don get sick. Still, I suddenly fell ill. Later, I was forced to be admitted to the hospital. My elder daughter Tanira returned to the country on the news of my illness. After four days, I returned to my Uttara house from the hospital. Now I am taking treatment at home on doctors advice. Talking is forbidden, so picking up the phone is very rare. She herself confirmed the news of her illness to this correspondent.

Renowned actress and teacher Dilara Zamans birthday was on June 19. We wish her long life and hope that she can bring our countrys art culture to the new generation through her acting.

She is one of the veterans, who, since the birth of television in this region, has proved her talent over and over again and made a permanent inroad into our collective psyche.

The society, however, was way too conservative when the actor started her acting career. Fighting against all the obstacles, Dilara Zaman was obstinate enough to stick to her decision to continue acting. Over the last 40 years she has acted in numerous Bengali films and dramas, thereby becoming a household name.

Dilara Zaman was born in June 19, 1943, during the Second World War, in the Bardhaman district of undivided Bengal where her father Rafiq Uddin Ahmed was posted. After the partition of India, they moved to Jessore in 1947.  After her schooling she completed graduation from the University of Dhaka with a degree in Bangla literature. Dilara Zaman made her acting debut in the 1960s, and her career has spanned several decades.

She has been a prominent figure on Bangladesh Television, known for her performances in numerous drama series and telefilms. Dilara Zaman has also appeared in many critically acclaimed films, showcasing her versatility as an actress. In addition to her work in television and film, she has also been involved in theater, bringing her talent to live audiences.

Dilara Zaman has starred in various popular television dramas, contributing significantly to the development of Bangladesh Television. Some of her notable films include "Aguner Poroshmoni," "Shankhonad," and "Chorabali."

She has received multiple National Film Awards in Bangladesh for her outstanding performances. Dilara Zaman has been honoured with numerous awards and accolades throughout her career, recognizing her contributions to the arts and culture of Bangladesh.
Despite her busy career, she has managed to balance her personal and professional life effectively. Over the years, Dilara Zaman has been a mentor and inspiration to many young actors in Bangladesh. Her work has a significant cultural impact, reflecting the social and cultural changes in Bangladesh through her roles.
