The low pressure area over Northwest Bay and adjoining coastal areas persist. Under its influence deep convection is taking place and steep pressure gradient lies over North Bay.
Gusty/squally weather may affect the maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal No. 3.
Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) stated it through a warning message in its special weather bulletin issued at 5:00pm on Friday (June 28, 2024).
The warning message, signed by meteorologist Kh. Hafizur Rahman, advised all fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
On Friday morning, the Met office said light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram, Barishal and Sylhet divisions and at many places over Rajshahi, Dhaka and Khulna divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country.
It said the axis of monsoon trough runs through Bihar, centre of the Low and thence Northeastwards to Assam across Southern part of Bangladesh.
Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong elsewhere over North Bay.
