AL submits income, expenditure account to Election Commission

Ruling Awami League on Thursday submitted its income and expenditure account for calendar year 2023 to the Election Commission (EC).

The party showed its income as Tk 27,14,45,000. A four-member led by Awami League treasurer HN Ashikur Rahman submitted the account for the calendar year 2023 to EC Secretary Shafiul Azim.
Later, Ashikur Rahman told reporters that in the 2023 calendar year, against the income of Tk 271,400,000 the party spent  Tk 98,736,000.

Besides selling nomination forms worth Tk 16,82,500, AL had earned Tk 16,363,000 as monthly subscription, it received donation of Tk 10,100,000 crore from Meghna Bank, from sale of other forms it earned Tk 2,29,84,000, received rent of Bangabandhu Avenue AL office worth Tk 15,35,000, interest on bank deposits --Tk 4,84,41,000 and other income-37,72,000.

According to AL its income and expenditure  increased in 2023 compared to 2022.
 
In 2023, the party has spent Tk 9,87,36,000 up from TK 7,86,84,000 in 2022 was.

Income in 2023 was Tk 27,14,45,000 and in  2022 it was 10,71, 35,000.

The AL delegation included office secretary Biplab Barua, publicity and publication secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap and Deputy Secretary Sayem Khan

The Political Party Registration Rules of the Representation of the People Order (RPO) requires political parties to submit the account of annual income and expenditure to the EC by July 31. The EC can cancel  registration if any party failing  to submit accounts for three consecutive years. The country has 44 registered political parties.
