NETRAKONA, June 19: Water in the river Upadakhali is now flowing above the danger level due to constant rain and onrush of upstream water in the district.
The water in the river Upadakhali was flowing 27cm above the danger level at 4pm on Tuesday.
Executive Engineer of Netrakona Water Development Board Md Sarwar Jahan confirmed it.
Besides, he said water in all the rivers of the district are about to touch the danger level.
Meanwhile, water in the river Kongso under Purbo Dhola Upazila was flowing 20cm below the danger level at Jaria point, water in the river Dhonu under Khaliajuri Upazila at 66cm below the danger level, and water level in the river Someshwari under Durgapur Upazila was flowing 94cm below the danger levels till 4:30pm on Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner Shahed Parvez said, "Our relief goods have been readied. Our Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) have been monitoring the situation constantly. We are keeping close contacts with the Water Development Board."
He also said the district administration was ready. "We have already talked to the Union Parishad chairmen concerned. We pray to Allah so that we don have to face any flood. In spite of it, we are completely ready to tackle the disaster."
