Detained Jhenidah district Awami League general secretary Saidul Karim Mintu has been taken to the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) office in the capital for questioning in Anwarul Azim Anar MP murder.
He was arrested from Dhanmondi area in the capital on Tuesday (June 11) afternoon.
DB sources said Anwarul Azim Anar MP murder mastermind Aktaruzzaman Shahin had contact with Saidul Karim Mintu. He was detained for questioning.
Contacted, Jhenidah District Awami League president Md Shafiqul Islam Apu said the District Awami League had a programme today (Tuesday) on the occasion of founding anniversary. Mintu was schduled to attend the programme, but did not come. "I have heard about detaining him, but I am not sure about it yet."
DB chief Harun-ar-Rashid has said many Jhenidah district Awami League leaders are on vigilance in connection with Anwarul Azim Anar murder.
On Monday, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan told reporters at his office at Secretariat that many might be arrested after the ending of investigation into MP Anar murder. At the same time, many things would be possible to disclose once the body of MP Anar is identified. Investigation is now going on. Information received during investigation is being examined.
