Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader said on Thursday that Bangladesh will face a major economic crisis if the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 is passed.

The former commerce minister made this comment while speaking to journalists after Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali placed the budget in parliament.
Quader said, "Due to indirect taxes, the tax burden on the people will increase. Lack of business environment will not increase foreign investments, as a result new employment will not be created. Bangladesh will be in a major economic crisis if this budget is passed." He said, "The budget has been conventional like in the last few financial years, there is nothing special in it."

He said, "Economic crisis is impending. Due to inflation the prices of goods are increasing every day. No initiatives have been taken to resolve problems like unemployment, depletion of foreign currencies and devaluation of Taka."
