The Detective Branch of Police will talk to the US Embassy in Dhaka to bring Akhtaruzzaman Shahin, mastermind of the murder of Jhenidah-4 MP Anwarul Azim Anar, back to Bangladesh, said the DB chief Harun-Or-Rashid on Tuesday.
Earlier, the DB chief returned to the country on Thursday on completion of his investigation into Anar murder case in Kolkata.
An official of the DB who is involved in Anar murder investigation, has said they had information that Akhtaruzzaman Shahin fled to the United States through Nepal. Besides, another accused Siam has been detained in Nepal.
Celesty Rahman in her deposition confessed to her responsibility in the murder of Jhenaidah-4 MP Anwarul Azim Anar, at Kolkata, West Bengal of India.
She was produced before a court by police during her remand on Monday. As she agreed to make a confessional statement about her involvement in MP Anar murder, the investigation officer of the case DB Police Senior Assistant Commissioner Mahfuzur Rahman applied to the court to record her statement.
On May 13, Anar was murdered at a flat at Sanjeeva Gardens in New Town of Kolkata. After cutting his body into pieces, the murderers dumped those at different places. But, the Kolkata Police could not trace Anars body pieces. Main killer Amanullah alias Shimul Bhuiyan and several others came back to Bangladesh after implementing their killing mission in Kolkata. The DB in Dhaka later arrested them quickly.
Five days after leaving home, friend Gopal Biswas filed a GD regarding Anwarul Azims missing at Baranagar Police Station on May 18. Even then, this three-time MP was not found.
On Wednesday (May 22), news suddenly spread that Anwarul Azim was murdered in room BU 56 of a high-rise residential building called Sanjeeva Gardens in the New Town area of Kolkata. Traces of blood were found inside the house. But the body was not found in the house.
His daughter Mumtarin Ferdous Dorin filed a case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station in Dhaka on May 22 in connection with the incident.
